Evra signs new United deal
Patrice Evra has become the latest Manchester United player to pledge his future to the club after signing a new contract until 2014.
The evergreen Ryan Giggs agreed a one-year extension at Old Trafford before the weekend and Evra has now put pen-to-paper with the Premier League leaders.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had suggested on Friday there was 'nothing to report' following rumours that Evra was about to sign a new long-term contract.
However, the Red Devils have confirmed the full-back has ended any lingering doubts about his future by accepting an extension.
Evra has made 226 appearances for United since his 2006 arrival from Monaco and the France international is happy to be staying at the club.
"Ever since I arrived at United, it's been a dream come true playing here," Evra told the club's official website.
"The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
"I've won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here."
Evra had been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid and Ferguson is delighted to have retained the services of the defender.
Ferguson said: "Patrice has developed into a key character in the dressing room.
"It's great that he's committed himself to Manchester United. His experience and talent will be increasingly important to us."
