Rooney remains wary of Blues
Wayne Rooney has warned Manchester United to remain wary of a strengthened Chelsea in the title race.
Chelsea bolstered their ranks on transfer deadline day with the double signing of Fernando Torres and David Luiz in a £70million outlay.
United remain 10 points clear of reigning champions Chelsea after both sides recorded wins on Tuesday night and Rooney knows the Blues will be an even bigger threat to their title dreams following the arrivals of Torres and Luiz.
"We certainly haven't written Chelsea off," Rooney said.
"They are a big strong side and we know if anyone is capable of going on a good run then it is them.
"But we know it is up to us where the title goes and hopefully we can win it back."
Rooney was back to his brilliant best in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa, scoring two goals and creating the other for Nemanja Vidic.
The England international is now hoping to go on a run after a below-par campaign by his high standards.
"I have been happy with my play but obviously I want to score," added Rooney.
"As a striker you want to score goals but I have been happy with my performances, apart from the Blackpool match last week when I just couldn't get back into the game.
"I am delighted to have scored and hopefully I can go on a run now and help the team to win games."
