United keeper lands Hannover trial
Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler could be set to return to his native Germany after joining Hannover on trial.
The youth international has returned to his homeland to undergo a trial with Bundesliga outfit Hannover.
The 21-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is eager to secure a deal elsewhere.
"I came to Hannover hoping I can manage to stay at the club," he told Bild.
"They offered me the chance to have a trial and I am thankful for this as it isn't easy for people to watch me playing for the Manchester United reserves.
"I am happy being at Hannover. If everything goes fine I might have the opportunity to stay on."
Zieler was with hometown club Cologne when he was lured to United's youth Academy in 2005 before being given professional terms at Old Trafford in the summer of 2008.
He played two games on loan at Northampton during the 2008/09 campaign and has most recently had a trial at Belgium top-flight outfit Westerlo.
Zieler was Germany's first-choice keeper at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt last year.

not a fan of Akinfeev due to his lack of command, and him being very poor at crosses, and in England he can't get away with that tbh.. For me though if we HAD to get a keeper, I'd go for Lloris!

The closest he's ever got to the 1st team was being named in the Champion's League squad. Even in the Carling Cup, it was Ben Amos who was given a chance so you can't blame him for looking elsewhere.

I could definitely see a keeper arriving in summer - only question to me is are we likely to spend and bring in the likes of Neuer or Akinfeev while VDS is still with us? Or is the future still Foster shaped even after a pretty disastrous season for him?

Probably insignificant in the grand scheme of things and I presume he's looking for first team football which is extremely unlikely for a few years. Hopefully this does signal our intent to bring back up in for Van Der Sar soon though as I don't think we've got much in the way of youth team goalkeepers coming through at the moment and not sure how Ben Amos is getting on at Molde?
